Welcome to the Chamelaeon's Branch, the web home of a humble wombat.
I've been the owner of TCB for going on five years now, and it's never looked
prettier than this. Look around, though there's not really much to see, and
don't hesitate to
drop me a line
if you get bored or have something really interesting to say.
December 17th, 2003 - "A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval."
There's something to be said for the holidays, apart from all the brotherhood
and love-and-peace tripe - a something that keeps me celebrating despite giving
up my religion a great while ago. It's an ineffable thing, not something you can
voice or express, but you feel it standing downtown in a city looking at lights,
or even at a crossroads in the country, looking at something as simple as a
grain
elevator with a star at the top.
It doesn't have anything to do with other people. It's just a feeling you get, a
calmness. Unfortunately, as most of you know, it becomes hard to tap into that
calmness while dueling with another consumer for your honor and the last copy of
Mario Kart: Double Dash.
There's no point to that bit, it would be worthless if I tacked something sappy
onto the end. So. Here's a sappy bit that has only a little to do with the
above. I wish you and yours a happy holidays, no matter what particular religion
you are or what you're celebrating (even
Agnostica!). Enjoy yourselves. Drink and be merry, if that's
your thing, or don't if it's not. But for the love of Eris, take a deep breath
and appreciate what you've got. That's what these things are here for.
